Info about Panormo

Panormo is a typical Cretan town with charming, narrow streets and old Venetian buildings, and like many places on the island, it is one of the most beautiful villages in Crete.

Panormo has many excellent tavernas and seafood restaurants, as it is a fishing village. There are several lovely small shops selling jewelry, handicrafts, and souvenirs. You’ll also find a bakery, a butcher, and a couple of supermarkets in town.

The town beach is ideal for children, as it is sheltered by the harbor’s breakwater. Panormo has two main beaches, plus a few smaller ones that can be a bit harder to reach.

Although the town attracts quite a few tourists, it has retained its charming Greek atmosphere. With its cozy, warm, and friendly ambiance, Panormo is truly a place worth visiting—a town where you can relax and enjoy typical Cretan hospitality.

Rethymno is located only 22 km west of Panormo, so it’s not far to bars, nightclubs, or a wide range of shops in the sophisticated city of Rethymno. Heraklion lies 55 km to the east.

Panormo offers various water activities including water sports, fishing trips, snorkeling, diving, canoeing, pedal boats, and more—there’s something for the whole family to enjoy.
