Info about Gerani
Gerani is located just a few kilometers west of Platanias, one of the major tourist hubs on the Chania coast.
Gerani is a smaller tourist destination with both family-friendly hotels and larger resorts. There are a few tavernas along the beach and the main road, as well as a couple of shops and supermarkets. If you're looking for more options than Gerani has to offer, you can head to Platanias, a true tourist haven with plenty of tavernas, bars, and shopping opportunities. It’s close enough to walk or take a taxi, and there are also good bus connections along the Chania coast towards Chania itself.
The beach in Gerani is wide and long, mostly consisting of coarse sand with small pebbles along the waterline, so water shoes are recommended. The beach is equipped with sun loungers and beach bars where you can enjoy lunch during the day. There are also several water sports activities available on the beach, and lifeguards are on duty.
Be aware that the Caretta Caretta sea turtles may nest in the sand from May to September.
