Infoside om Ierapetra

Ierapetra is the fourth-largest city on Crete, located on the southeast coast of the island and recognized as the southernmost city in Europe.
The city is sometimes referred to as "The Bride of the Libyan Sea," glowing brightly against the blue waters.

The area enjoys its own microclimate, with temperatures rarely dropping below 12°C, and it boasts the most sunshine hours and the least rainfall in all of Greece.
This provides favorable conditions for greenhouse cultivation of fruits and vegetables year-round.

In Ierapetra, there is an archaeological collection at the museum, which was previously an Ottoman school.

The fishing harbor and the Venetian fortress Kalés are situated next to each other, near the old part of the city.

In the winding streets, you can find Napoleon's house, where he spent the night in 1798, as well as the mosque with its minaret and fountain.

The city center offers plenty of shops for a shopping trip.
Every Saturday, there is a street market where local products such as fruits, vegetables, cheese, honey, sausages, and fish are sold.
The market also features textiles, clothing, flowers, and other goods.

There are many hotels and hotel apartments at reasonable prices, offering a family-friendly atmosphere. Along the long promenade, stretching from Hotel Petra Mare to the fishing harbor, you’ll find a wide selection of taverns, cafés, bars, and tourist shops.

Along the coast in and around Ierapetra, there are several beautiful beaches, many of which are awarded the "Blue Flag" annually.
There are beaches for every preference, ranging from Long Beach in Koutsounari, which is 5 km long (one of Crete’s longest beaches), to small bathing coves.

Ierapetra also offers various activities, such as diving, water skiing, pedal boats, windsurfing, and hiking.
During the tourist season, boats run to the island of Chrissi, and the surrounding area features many lovely and charming villages along scenic roads.
