Om Kretaforum.dk
Kretaforum.dk is run by Brian Pilgaard Rosén
The reason for running a website about Crete is that I have visited the island many times over the years. In fact, I met my wife during my first holiday on Crete in 1991.
Since then, we have explored the island extensively, staying in over 16 different towns and more than 25 hotels or private homes.
We have visited other Greek islands but always find ourselves returning to Crete, where we left our hearts behind.
Kretaforum.dk is an informational website for anyone planning a vacation to Crete—whether it's their first time, or their second, tenth, or even twentieth visit. There are always new places to explore, and everyone is welcome on Kretaforum.dk to share comments, ask questions, or suggest new towns, experiences, or other ideas. Feel free to contact me via the contact page.
A brief history of Kretaforum.dk
January 2001:
Kretaforum.dk was launched by six people, all of whom had some connection to Crete. Jan Hansen was the webmaster and the visionary behind the site.
Version 1 of Kretaforum.dk.
January 2002:
I took over the role of webmaster from Jan Hansen, as Jan could no longer dedicate time to the site. I had been a driving force in launching Kretaforum.dk alongside Jan and was now responsible for ensuring its continued existence.
Version 2 of Kretaforum.dk was released in spring 2002.
Version 3 of Kretaforum.dk was developed later in 2002.
December 2003:
As webmaster of Kretaforum.dk, I took full ownership of the website and its associated costs, as the remaining original team members were no longer involved.
August 2007:
Kretaforum.dk launched Version 4, replacing the five-year-old Version 3.
January 2013:
Kretaforum.dk launched Version 5, which marked a significant shift from its previous setup in Microsoft FrontPage to a Joomla CMS (Content Management System).
February 2017:
Kretaforum.dk launched Version 6, featuring a new design, an update to Joomla 3, and the addition of photo galleries for town-specific pages.
March 2023:
Kretaforum.dk launched Version 7, updated to Joomla 4 and featuring a new template (new design).
December 2024:
Kretaforum.dk launched Version 8, updated to Joomla 5. I have started translating the site into English, and throughout 2025, I plan to have the entire site translated. However, this will take time, as many pages require thorough review and updates.
