Info about Almyrida
Almyrida is a charming and cozy coastal town that originally was a small fishing village. The town is known for its relaxed atmosphere and beautiful natural surroundings.
It is located in the northwestern part of Crete, not far from Kalyves and only 25 km east of Chania. Almyrida is situated in the Apokoronas region and is surrounded by mountains, olive groves, and the clear blue sea.
Almyrida lies in a stunning setting with views of the White Mountains (Lefka Ori), offering peace and tranquility for a relaxing holiday. Today, the town has developed into a lovely seaside resort, featuring a beautiful sandy beach on one side with fine sand – ideal for both children and adults due to its shallow and calm waters.
The beach areas are family-friendly and well-equipped with sun loungers and umbrellas. There are also opportunities to try various water sports as well as snorkeling.
Additionally, there is a smaller sandy beach on the other side of town, as well as a pebble beach.
In Almyrida, you’ll find supermarkets, tavernas, cafés, and bars – enough to meet most tourists’ needs. For more shopping, a bus runs to Chania via Kalyves a couple of times a day.
Almyrida is a wonderful holiday destination for those seeking a relaxing vacation in scenic surroundings, away from the larger tourist areas.
